Warrington Wolves star Ben Currie is set for a testimonial in 2023.
On February 4th, Currie will take on Leigh Leopards in a testimonial clash as he meets five of his former teammates including the likes of Jack Hughes who have joined the Leopards.
Speaking of former teammates, another of those Ryan Atkins has massively praised Currie on the Warrington website.
“It was a breath of fresh air playing alongside him,” he said.
“He has speed, strength and skill – a bit like an old school loose-forward but in the second-row.
“He’s an out and out competitor and a winner. He hates losing. We used to joke about left edge v right edge. He drove that even though I was probably the more senior player.”
In 2023, he is expecting Currie to be a superstar after a few years in which he struggled with injuries.
He believes that the Wolves backrow will be back in the international mix.
“This year he’ll be back to the superstar Bennie Currie and the wonder boy he was!
“If it hadn’t have been for those injuries he’d have a hell of a lot more England and Great Britain caps. He will find that form again though, I have no doubt, and he will be back in the mix.”
