Sam Burgess reveals what Richie Myler said to him during fiery exchange

The headlines following last night’s Super League game between Warrington Wolves and Hull FC have been dominated by an incident in the tunnel between Sam Burgess and Richie Myler.

Wire head coach, Burgess, was captured on Sky Sports barging into Hull’s new Director of Rugby as the pair exchanged words prior to the clash at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The conflict came after Burgess claimed Hull contributed to Warrington losing an interchange, with the RFL informing the Wolves of the decision as the game kicked off due to a discrepancy with their 21-man squad.

It’s reported the inclusion of Adam Holroyd caused the issue, with Burgess believing Hull complained about the inclusion of the second-rower to the game’s governing body.

Sam Burgess slams Hull FC over interchange loss

Burgess explained in his post-match interview that Holroyd’s inclusion caused the RFL to inform Warrington just before kick-off that they would only be allowed seven interchanges instead of eight.

The former England captain was angered by Hull’s approach, stating that ‘common sense had not prevailed’ and that the episode made a mockery of player welfare.

“I was told I was losing a substitution and I couldn’t understand why,” said Burgess. “I had done my process the same as I do every week. I named my 21 earlier in the week and it got sent in. You all got it, didn’t you?

“Everyone else got it except the RFL, Hull complained and I lost a sub. They said Adam Holroyd wasn’t in the 21. It’s just not good enough.

“There was an option to give us our sub back because there was a mess-up, but some choices were made not to do that.”

Burgess explains Myler exchange

After claiming Hull had caused the issue, Burgess then went into more detail on his fiery exchange in the tunnel with Myler.

“He made some smart comment as I was walking past him and there was really no need to do that.

“I get he’s new in the job and so am I. The game is done now.”

So he didn’t say what was said. Why lie.
