“He would like that” – Sam Burgess has another dig at Richie Myler

Sam Burgess has had what could be the final dig in the war of words between Richie Myler and himself, a conflict that originated in the aftermath of last week’s clash between Warrington Wolves and Hull FC.

Ahead of Warrington’s win over Hull FC, it was confirmed that Wire would be without their eighth and final interchange after being docked it for fielding an incorrect lineup. That left Sam Burgess irate as he explained the situation post-match to Sky Sports, bemoaning Hull FC and specifically Richie Myler’s decision not to overlook the error.

Warrington had announced via social media their 21-man squad with Adam Holroyd in but had somehow filed a squad with Connor Wrench instead to the RFL, with the governing body informing Serious About Rugby League about the incident.

Sam Burgess’ post-game rant then culminated with an altercation between him and Myler in the tunnel with the latter reportedly making a “smart comment” to the former South Sydney Rabbitohs star.

It now seems that a week on the saga rumbles on between both men.

The fire was relit somewhat when Richie Myler commented on the situation mid-week as he denied any involvement in the decision to deduct Warrington one of their interchanges, something that prompted Sam Burgess to rant about player welfare.

Myler said: “I wasn’t even the one who flagged up that they’d named somebody in the squad that wasn’t. I don’t fully understand what happened or whose fault it was.

“I just got approached by the match commissioner and then, ultimately, by Sam Burgess who was very heated and animated before the game.”

The newly-appointed Director of Rugby would gp on to reveal he didn’t feel that he was “qualified” to make the decision to overturn the interchange deduction, before drawing a line under the scenario claiming that he has “no hard feelings”.

Sam Burgess might think otherwise as he couldn’t resist one last shot at the former Leeds Rhinos full-back. Speaking to Jenna Brooks as part of Sky Sports’ coverage of Warrington’s impressive win over Hull KR, Burgess’ attention was shifted to the team on the west side of that city.

Brooks asked if he had spoken with Myler, to which Sam Burgess said: “No, no I think I’ll just move on from that. So yeah, it’s time to move on.”

Pushed further by Brooks, Burgess tried to remove himself from the situation but left one more comment for Myler to potentially bite on.

He said: “I’m not going to give it any more air than it needs. I’m sure he’d like that. I’m not into it. So I’ll just move on.”

Warrington would go on to win the game against Hull KR with relative ease as Willie Peters’ side put in an uncharacteristically poor showing and that win has now sent Warrington Wolves top of the table as they head into their Challenge Cup semi-final against Huddersfield Giants.

1…Sam Burgess did NOT have another shot at Myler. He was asked a question by Jenna and didn’t want to discuss it Brookes persued the topic and again Sam didn’t want to discuss it. If you are “Serios about Rugby League” CUT THE BULLSHIT.

2…Hull KR did not play poorly they were not allowed to play well by Warrington…First half was almost an attacking blow out, 2nd half defence was superb
