Man of Steel: Marc Sneyd retains lead but surprise name cracks top five

Marc Sneyd, playing for Salford, runs with ball in hand, looking to evade a defender. He leads the Man of Steel standings.

Following the fifth set of fixtures, the points for the Steve Prescott Man of Steel award have been revealed.

There’s a surprise winner from the Salford v Wigan game, and four sides had full houses from their games.

Here’s a comprehensive list of all the point scorers from Round Three, followed by the overall ranking over the season so far.

Salford Red Devils v Wigan Warriors

Despite looking like they might snatch a victory, Salford were beaten late on by a professional Wigan side, with the final score being 12-22.

Marc Sneyd picked up yet another three points for his display, despite many suggesting that he may have thrown the game away with his short drop-out. Luke Thompson, despite being on the winning side, was the only Warriors player in the points, getting two, with Nene MacDonald continuing his excellent start to life at the Red Devils with the final point.

Leeds v St Helens

Another tight, exciting affair went the way of St Helens, with tries from Blake, Bennison and Mbye sealing victory.

Lewis Dodd and James Bell for Saints got three and two points respectively, while the Rhinos’  Lachlan Miller’s all-round display was rewarded with a point.

Catalans Dragons v Castleford Tigers

Catalans were comfortable in victory over winless Castleford at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, winning 40-14 and scoring seven tries.

Theirs is the first clean sweep of the round, with three points going to try-scorer Tom Davies, two to Mike McMeeken, up against his former side, and a point to Arthir Mourgue, who was responsible for 16 of their 50 points in the game.

Hull FC v Leigh Leopards

An embarrassing 54-4 home defeat for Hull FC would have been worse than even the most negative of fans’ pre-game predictions.

Leigh’s first win of the season saw them also have all three point-winners come from their camp, as Matt Moylan’s try and eight conversions in a wonderful display saw him pick up three points. Ricky Leutele and Oli Holmes both scored twice, and they rounded out the points with two and one respectively.

Huddersfield Giants v Hull KR

Hull KR returned to the win column with a 24-12 win away at the Huddersfield Giants, after a ruthless first-half performance.

Tyrone May takes three points, and Niall Evalds’ three try assists earned him two points. Peta Hiku scored a double, but he takes a single point.

London Broncos v Warrington Wolves

The final game of the weekend saw a 58-4 win for Warrington in Wimbledon, with ten tries. Stefan Ratchford equalled the Super League record for the most successive kicks with 41 in a row.

He gets the three points, while Matt Dufty is in the points for the fourth time in a row after his hat-trick, getting two. Josh Thewlis’ own hat-trick would usually get him more, but he gets one point.
