Hull FC sign Ben Reynolds on loan from Hull KR

Hull FC face a crucial clash against London Broncos this weekend. Having won just one game so far this season, FC will be keen to register a second Super League win, and put some daylight between themselves and the Broncos.

Now, FC have moved to bolster their squad by adding Ben Reynolds from cross-city rivals, Hull KR. Reynolds is the third player to cross the city divide this week.

Earlier in the week, it was announced that Hull KR had signed highly rated FC prop, Jack Brown. Yusuf Aydin made the in the opposite direction, joining FC on a a two and a half year contract.

Reynolds has had a nomadic career, after breaking into the Castleford Tigers team in 2013. He was a key part of the Leigh Leopards side which won promotion from the Championship in 2022, and the Challenge Cup in 2023.

Hull FC is his third club of the 2024 season, having joined Featherstone Rovers at the start of the season before moving to KR.

Ben Reynolds latest Hull FC signing

Speaking on the latest addition to the Black & Whites’ squad, Director of Rugby Richie Myler, said: “We’re pleased to add someone of Ben’s quality and experience of the game to our ranks for the remainder of the season.

“Half-back is a position we’ve been keen to add some depth to in recent weeks, and Ben’s attributes, with his kicking game in particular, will compliment those of Jake (Trueman), Morgan (Smith) and Jack (Charles) over the coming months.

“I’m excited to see what he can add to our group, starting this weekend against London.”

Reynolds latest in a series of recruits

Richie Myler has been busy in the transfer market since taking over the role of Director of Rugby. FC legend, Tom Briscoe, returned to the club where he started his career from Leigh.

Ed Chamberlain also joined from Leopards on loan, however his loan deal was cut short by Leigh following the fallout of the John Asiata deal. Wigan Warriors second rower, Tiaki Chan also joined the Black and Whites on an initial two-week loan deal this week.

The Airlie Birds have confirmed the signings of Leigh duo, Oliver Holmes and John Asiata for the 2025 season, as their ongoing rebuild continues. Speaking in a press conference yesterday, Richie Myler confirmed further signings may be on the way.

“We need more experience throughout our starting 17, that’s clear. We’re asking a lot of our young players, to play a lot of minutes and have a lot of exposure. That will be good in the long run but you can’t have too much of that. We’ve got lots of scope, we’re in conversation with six or seven players we’re confident can come in and add to the group.”
