More change at Hull FC as another key figure departs

Hull FC chairman Adam Pearson

Hull FC have suffered from a season of turmoil and uncertainty in 2024. On the field, the club has suffered from a disastrous start which has seen them win just one Super League game so far. Off the field, things have not been much better. Hull parted ways with head coach, Tony Smith, and are yet to name a successor.

The club brought in Richie Myler as new Director of Rugby, and he is working to secure a new head coach. However, the club has today announced that another key executive has left the club.

Hull FC Chief Executive departs

James Clark will leave the role of Chief Executive later this month after 15 years at the club. During his time at the club, he has seen the club lift the Challenge Cup twice and attain Grade A status in the IMG Gradings. However, he has decided now is the right time to leave the cub. In a statement on the club website, he explained:

“After so many years, and some recent life changing events, it is time for me to invest in the parts of my life which have been neglected and enjoy the exciting new opportunities that lie ahead.

“I wish everyone at the club every success in the future, success it so richly deserves. I know, given time, patience and the right investment, it will not be long before that success will return again.”

Clark’s departure means Hull chairman, Adam Pearson, will move into a new role. He will combine the role of Chairman and Chief Executive for the near future. The move means Pearson will work closely with Myler to oversee the day-to day running of the club. FC made the announcement in a separate statement.

“Moving forward, I will now combine the role of Chairman and Chief Executive for the foreseeable future. I will also undertake a search to find a non-executive Chairman capable of assisting me in ensuring the club continues to run in the most professional manner possible, so that the two roles can continue to be separate on a long-term basis.

“Richie Myler and myself will now work closely together day-to-day to ensure the club can continue to work back towards the glory days we enjoyed in recent years, which James played such an integral leadership role in delivering over the last decade.

“We wish James and his family the very best for the future and I wish him all the success in his venture.”
