Bradford Bulls winger loses teeth in bad injury following victory over London Broncos

Rugby league players know that when they take to the field, injuries are part and parcel of the game.

However, sometimes an injury can make you wince enough to pause and take note of the absolute warriors that do play the sport.

One such warrior is Bradford Bulls winger Matty Dawson-Jones who, in the West Yorkshire club’s 34-8 victory over London Broncos, was taken off with six minutes left of the fixture due to a facial injury.

The Bulls later tweeted: “Update on Matty Dawson-Jones, as the winger has cut the top of his mouth, and lost a few teeth in the process! Speedy recovery!”

It was Bradford’s second win in four games with the West Yorkshire club now in the fifth round of the Challenge Cup and they will find out their opponents tomorrow as the draw takes place.

The Fifth Round draw for the Betfred Challenge Cup will be held on Monday night (February 28) – and shown live by Premier Sports.

The winners of the five Fifth Round ties will enter the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup – and three of them will be a single win from the Final at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday May 28, with the other two to face a Play-Off to earn their place in the Semi Finals.

The draw for the Play-Off and Semi Finals of the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup will be held in the week following the Betfred Challenge Cup Sixth Round, starting Monday, March 28.

The Play-Off will be held on the same weekend as the Betfred Challenge Cup Quarter Finals (April 9-10) – and any non-Super League clubs who qualify for the Quarter Finals of the Betfred Challenge Cup will be rewarded with exemption from the Play-Off draw.

The AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Semi Finals will be played on the same weekend as the Betfred Challenge Cup Semi Finals, May 7-8.

If a team qualifies for the Semi Finals of both competitions, their 1895 Cup Semi Final will be delayed: if they reach the Betfred Challenge Cup Final, that would take precedence over the 1895 Cup Semi Final; if they lose the Betfred Challenge Cup Semi Final, the 1895 Cup Semi Final will be rearranged to provide the team with a second chance to reach Tottenham.
