Following the latest round of Betfred Super League fixtures, the Match Review Panel have issued the following sanctions:
George Lawler (Castleford) – Grade C Dangerous Throw – 3 Match Penalty Notice
Curtis Sironen (St Helens) – Grade A High Tackle – 0 Match Penalty Notice
Sam Wood (Hull KR) – Grade A Late Hit on Passer – 0 Match Penalty Notice
The following players were handed cautions:
Jake Connor (Hull FC) – Other Contrary Behaviour
Liam Sutcliffe (Leeds) – Dangerous Throw
However, one of those incidents stood out with George Lawler receiving a three-match ban for something which was not cited by referee Marcus Griffiths.
The Disciplinary Match Review Panel, however, has stated that: “Law 15.1(d) Dangerous throw – lifting player into dangerous position Grade C.”
It not only means that Lawler will miss the Challenge Cup Quarter-Final clash against his former side Hull KR, but important league games against Wakefield Trinity and Leeds Rhinos.
Interestingly, the Castleford forward was the only one to be given a ban by the Disciplinary Panel this week with St Helens’ Curtis Sironen and Hull KR’s Sam Wood being given Grade A charge with no suspensions forthcoming.

It’s pathetic how platers from certain teams get preferential treatment a tackle not reported by the referee on the pitch and lawyer gets a 3 game suspension the games gone soft
