Warrington Wolves duo join Super League rivals immediately

Hull FC have announced the exciting loan signings of Matty Russell and Joe Bullock from Warrington Wolves.

Both players have joined the club on short term agreements.

With the Black & Whites currently suffering with an unprecedented list of injuries and suspensions heading into Sunday’s fixture against London Broncos, with up to 14 first-team players unavailable, the Black and Whites have moved quickly to strengthen their squad with Super League experience.

Russell, 30, joins the club for his second loan spell, some 12 years after his first. The pacey winger played six games for the club on loan from Wigan during his debut season in 2012, and will bring some important experience to FC’s back-line.

The Scotland international has over 200 career appearances under his belt, running out 14 times for the Wire during the 2023 campaign.

Meanwhile Bullock, 31, is equally experienced with over 230 career appearances under his belt, bringing some additional size and power to FC’s pack, standing at 6ft5in.

A powerful middle who often brings impressive impact off the interchange bench, Bullock has been a regular feature for the Wire since signing for the club from Wigan ahead of the 2022 campaign, making 41 appearances across the previous two campaigns.

Both players will join up with the Black & White squad in the coming days ahead of Sunday’s Betfred Super League Round 3 fixture against London Broncos.

Warrington Wolves issue statement on departing duo

Warrington released this statement at the announcement of the news: “WARRINGTON WOLVES CAN ANNOUNCE THAT JOE BULLOCK AND MATTY RUSSELL HAVE JOINED BETFRED SUPER LEAGUE CLUB HULL FC ON A SHORT TERM LOAN DEAL.

“The duo move to the Black and Whites on an initial two-week loan. We wish the pair the best of luck during their time at Hull.”

This comes after Brad Dwyer joined Leigh Leopards on a two week loan after the injury to Edwin Ipape.

On this, the club said: “WARRINGTON WOLVES CAN CONFIRM THAT BRAD DWYER HAS JOINED FELLOW BETFRED SUPER LEAGUE CLUB LEIGH LEOPARDS ON AN INITIAL TWO-WEEK LOAN.

“We wish Brad well during his loan spell with Leigh.”

The Wolves have a very strong squad and this underlines that fact.
