Rugby League World Cup reportedly hit by second robbery

Earlier in the Rugby League World Cup, just days ahead of their crucial final group game which would determine whether they made it to the quarter-finals, Lebanon were hit by a robbery.

Their hotel was broken into with laptops and kit stolen.

Shortly after this, the Cedars stars pulled off a citizens arrest as the same threat arose.

Now, as the tournament draws to a close, according to the Daily Telegraph, there has been another robbery.

This one left Australian news outlet Channel Nine as the victims.

According to the report, Channel Nine staff woke up this morning in Manchester to find that their car windows had been smashed and their equipment had been stolen.

The equipment came to a combined total cost of $20,000 and replacements have had to be sent from London to enable the network to continue to cover the tournament as it draws to a dramatic conclusion as Australia and Samoa collide in the men’s final after Australia and New Zealand clash at the same venue: Old Trafford.

Prior to that on Friday, England and France will meet in the Wheelchair World Cup Final in the host nation’s last chance to win a World Cup.

The English PDRL team did claim their world title earlier during the tournament at Warrington Wolves’ Halliwell Jones Stadium.
