Rohan Smith felt like he “missed out” as he praises Leeds Rhinos’ “unbelievable fan base”

Rohan Smith has worked wonders at Leeds Rhinos in 2022.

When he arrived at the club they were well within a relegation battle and somehow, by only losing six games in charge and going on a run of 10 wins in 11 games, he guided the Rhinos to the Grand Final.

However, it wasn’t to be at Old Trafford last night but despite that the Leeds fans were never silent cheering their side on from start to finish understanding the amazing achievement they pulled off just getting to the Grand Final.

However, Smith believed that he actually missed out on thanking the fans properly at the end of the game due to complications with a TV interview.

He did thank the fans in the press conference after the game for the way they’ve backed him since day one:

“I actually feel like I missed out after the game I was standing around for a long time waiting for a tv interview that didn’t come around for ages.

“I wanted to do my small part to say thank you for the way they’ve embraced a nobody a stranger like me. I have nothing but love for them, I still get goosebumps thinking about it. They’re an unbelievable fan base.”

Proud of the fans, Smith was also proud of his side’s effort too:

“Got a lot of effort and played all the way through. Didn’t all go our way. Really proud of the journey and the effort in that performance.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the way we’ve pulled together. We’ve won a lot fi games that were memorable performances.

“I’m proud of the way we’ve stuck together and been galvanised we played some decent footy but you’re here to win it and we were the second best team tonight.”
