James Graham causes controversy with concussion comments

James Graham has caused a stir with his comments concerning the concussion issue.

Lately, both the NRL and Super League have tried hard to clamp down on potentially life-changing injuries with greater punishments for hits to the head in an attempt to deter foul play.

Graham, a former Super League Grand Final winner with St Helens, has, however, spoken out about the increasing troubles, believing that players make their own minds up about choosing to play despite the risk of repeated head injuries.

”It’s a very complicated issue and I had to do some really deep thinking and what the consequence I faced,” said Graham in the Sydney Morning Herald.

”I considered, ’Ok, I’m hanging up the boots for concussion for future brain diseases’. But where was the purpose going to be filled in my life?

“I personally felt I needed a cause. What’s the meaning of life? Maybe for me the meaning of life was finding something worth dying for. I went with it.”
