Three star signings Leeds Rhinos could make

The likes of Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors and Hull FC will all be in the market for new halfbacks ahead of the 2024 season especially Leeds due to the situations around Blake Austin and Aidan Sezer.

Blake Austin was a player many Leeds fans wanted to see tied down for next year but things never got sorted and Austin was frank about the situation in interviews.

The halfback left the club to join Castleford Tigers and speaking of Tigers, the Wests Tigers have reportedly signed his now former teammate Aidan Sezer for next year as has long been rumoured.

Reports down under from the Sydney Morning Herald are linking the 32-year-old with Wests Tigers, who look set for the wooden spoon this year and are in the process of a rebuild.

It’s reported that the club see Sezer as part of that rebuild, as a ‘stop gap’ in the halves before they can recruit a younger talent.

The Sydney Morning Herald report that Wests have signed St George Illawarra Dragons young playmaker Jayden Sullivan who has joined on a four year deal.

At just 21 the Tigers are believed to be wanting to pair him with a more experienced player which is where Sezer comes in, the Leeds Rhinos man set to be the calm head and mentor in the half back pairing.

The Daily Telegraph however are reporting that Sezer has been tied down by Wests on a one year deal with an option for a second.

This is still clearly a short term solution but the Telegraph claim that it it’s a done deal which would suggest an announcement from Wests at some point soon, one that will leave Leeds looking for two brand new halves in 2023.

But who could the Rhinos look to sign? Here’s three options the Rhinos could consider for 2024.

Brad Schneider
Brad Schneider seems to love it at Headingley winning two games in golden point there with drop goals. He has signed for Hull KR until the end of the season and Leeds should be probing to see if they can bring him to the club though Schneider will likely want a return to the NRL.

Rowan Milnes
Another Hull KR halfback, Milnes has sadly played second fiddle to Mikey Lewis and Jordan Abdull for some time but is a great player in his own right. This would make a move for him potentially viable but would require a transfer fee.

Lachlan Miller
It is also possible Leeds sign a fullback and ask Richie Myler to move back into the halves. Leeds have been linked with Lachlan Miller in the past and he would make a great signing.
