Hull KR are having an excellent season under Willie Peters with the future certainly seeming bright for the Robins and they’ve now announced the amazing kit that they’ll be wearing for the 2024 season.
Rovers currently sit fifth and have a chance at securing playoffs when they face Salford Red Devils tomorrow evening, something that would add to the success of Willie Peters’ first year in charge at Craven Park.
The Robins also made the Challenge Cup Final, which they lost in heart-breaking fashion, but heading into 2024 they’ll be donning a new kit and it looks an absolute beauty.
The shirt goes back to the classic with a red stripe across a predominantly white shirt with red sleeves.
Rovers announced the following statement along with the reveal.
“Unveiled on the eve of a huge game for the Robins, the strip reverts back to a predominately white based design, with the iconic red band, front and centre.
“Modern twists to a classic design include sublimated Robin icons in the red sleeves, and red piping above and below the main band.
“First team players, Elliot Minchella, Kane Linnett and Mikey Lewis were joined by stars of the women’s and LDRL teams to reveal the kit in front of supporter flags from over the years. A symbol to represent the masses of Robins fans who support the club home and away.
Speaking on the kit, Hull KR Chief Executive Paul Lakin said: “This feels like the perfect combination of a traditional design, with a modern twist.
“We’ve said, from top to bottom, everything we are doing is about freshening things up, being a top 4 club, and making us fit to be modern and progressive. This is the epitome of that, yet with the nod to the fans, who have supported us from day one, shown in the launch photography.
“Our retail department continues to go from strength to strength. With what’s planned for our 2024 ranges, we are sure it’s a trend which will continue.
“To deliver a shirt launch so early, it needs the commitment of our valued partners, who I’m pleased to say signed up for 2024 and beyond earlier than ever. A huge thank you to all our 2024 kit partners, including of course principal partner Connexin, and Oxen who delivered this fantastic looking home shirt extra early to us.”
Ahead of the club’s huge game against Salford Red Devils tomorrow Willie Peters spoke with the press about the return of Jordan Abdull and how he could slot into Rovers’ plans.
“He’s not in peak condition at the moment for Jordan Abdull, but there’s no doubt what he did on the weekend, he proved his value on the field,” Peters explained.
“When he came on, he scored a try, he put a nice early kick in the corner there to change a little bit of momentum of the game. We actually gave a penalty off the back of that, but the actual smarts of it was the right thing to do.
“I think for me, Jordan can play seven or 13, just as well, because he’s getting his hands on the ball in both positions and we’re gonna make sure that he’s still kicking if he does play that 13 role as well.”
More important for Peters was the relationship with the fans, one he highlighted as being exceptional whilst explaining the team’s desire to have one final strong showing in front of the Craven Park faithful.
“We’ve said it all year, our players have, well I believe, a really good relationship between our fans and players. You can see the connection there. I think this week is an important game for us and for the players to go out and show their appreciation through their actions. So if they do that, we’ll have a positive outcome, I believe.
“That’s the most important thing for us is showing our thanks this week through our actions and doing what we do, what we’ve done the last sort of few weeks, but we know it’s an important game.”
