Transfer news: Leigh Leopards star Lachlan Lam wanted by three clubs

Leigh Leopards star Lachlan Lam

Leigh Leopards star Lachlan Lam is attracting interest from three clubs, according to reports on Channel 9.

Lam’s stock has risen hugely during his spell with Leigh, helping the club get promoted before a superb first season in Super League.

The Papua New Guinea international has been instrumental in helping the Leopards compete with the best since their arrival in the top-flight of British rugby league.

Lam was arguably the club’s standout player in 2023 and was one of the competition’s best, with Leigh soaring to a top six finish after creating history in the Challenge Cup.

The Leopards defeated Hull KR at Wembley thanks to Lam’s golden point drop goal, a moment that will make Lam a Leigh legend forever as he picked up the Lance Todd Trophy as Man of the Match.

It was an incredible moment, with Lam’s dad, Adrian, the head coach at the Leigh Sports Village, with the father-son duo writing their names into Challenge Cup history.

Three clubs interested in Leigh Leopards star

The report in Channel 9’s Wide World of Sports suggests Lam is “in demand” from three clubs down under and that he is “ready to come home”.

“Several NRL clubs are in the market for a halfback and have expressed interest to Lam’s manager Sam Ayoub,” the report states.

It continues: “Lam played 31 games for the Roosters between 2019 and 2021 and with Luke Keary now set to retire, there may be an option there for the local junior.

“But several other clubs, including the Titans and Bulldogs, are desperate for a class No.7 to join their ranks.
