St Helens confirm Costello departure

St Helens have confirmed that centre Matty Costello will depart the club.

The 22-year-old has been at the club for nine years, progressing through the academy system before making his senior debut in 2018.

He made 26 appearances in total, scoring six tries, and is expected to link up with Salford in 2021.

“It really has been amazing,” said Costello. “I have nothing but good memories here and whilst it will be hard leaving many of my best mates and the team I’ve grown up supporting, I’m excited and ready for a new challenge ahead.”

Saints head coach Kristian Woolf added: “Matty leaves us after 9 years at the Club. He progressed through our Academy to go on and become a first grade player.

“He leaves us on the back of two Super League Grand Final winners rings and I want to thank him for his professionalism. We wish him the best of luck in the rest of his career.”
