Salford favourites to start day 2 with a win

Salford and Hull KR get us under way for day 2 of magic weekend , and it’s no surprise that it’s the Red Devils who are clear favourites at around 4/11 , with Rovers around 5/2 .

Salford will be looking to avenge a defeat in the cup to the Robins 2 weeks ago and league form suggests they should with a win at Warrington and an unfortunate loss at St Helens amongst some impressive recent results . Rovers however are on a run of 5 straight league defeats and sit level on points with London and Leeds at the foot of the table and in real trouble .

Salford have to concede an 8 point start on the handicap and I think they can put the cup defeat behind them and win this by around 11-15 points .

As for the man of the match the big name players tend to get it at Magic weekend , as with Blake Austin , so you can’t ignore Hastings even at such a low price , Betfred have him 6/1 but surely that price will go . Mcguire at 10/1 has to be the pick for Rovers .

Game 2 probably sees the most important game of the weekend , when this fixture was announced we’d never have believed it’s significance , the loser could be cut adrift at the bottom of the table .

The Rhinos are very short at around 2/5 , especially given current form , but I still think they’ll get the job done . It’s around 2/1 for a London win but you can get 10/11 for them with a 6.5 point start , which means they can lose by 6 and that looks the value here , I think the Rhinos can win this by the minimum 1-5 points in a very tense encounter .

Myler heads man of the match markets at 8/1 but maybe this could be the time for Kallum Watkins at 25/1 . Alex Walker at 16/1 looks too big for the Broncos .

Final game sees injury hit Castleford take on leaders St Helens . Daryl Powell’s side have been on a terrible run losing 3 of their last 4 as they lost touch with the top 2 .

Saints meanwhile have gone from strength to strength , only losing once all season . It’s no surprise Saints are short at around 3/10 but Cas usually up their game for magic and I can’t rule out a shock here at 11/4 .It would be typical of Daryl Powell to get his troops up for this and while Saints should win , if there’s to be a shock it could be here .

The Tigers should be able to stay inside the 10 point handicap though .

It’s all Saints at the top of the man of the match betting with Roby and Lomax both 4/1 and Coote 8/1 with Betfred . Roby has consistently been the best player in Super League and would be my pick , although 20/1 is far too big for Walmsley . Truman heads the market for Cas at 10/1 but Mcshane would be my pick at 14/1 .

Enjoy day 2 , as always please gamble responsibly .
