Hull KR playmaker handed ban on dual-reg duties

Hull KR Ben Reynolds

Hull KR half-back Ben Reynolds has been handed a two-game ban whilst playing on dual registration duties for Featherstone Rovers over the weekend.

Reynolds had signed for Hull KR from Featherstone without playing a league game for the Flat Cappers in a move that seemed to have caused controversy between the two sides at the time.

Featherstone had released a statement after Reynolds’ exit in which they outlined that they had “reluctantly” accepted Reynolds’ transfer request, whilst also confirming that they had received a “significant transfer fee”.

Reynolds has only played once so far for the Robins, the club signing him to serve as a back-up behind Tyrone May and Mikey Lewis, meaning that he has on occasion headed out to play for Featherstone on dual-registration.

It has now been confirmed that he has been handed a Grade C charge for ‘Dissent’ with the two-game ban coming at the higher end of the sanctioning grade.

The Match Review Panel’s Minutes reveal that Reynolds had “Disputed using any foul and abusive or aggressive language and/or body language” in Featherstone’s victory over Doncaster.

It means that Reynolds will miss Super League rounds 9 and 10, with bans handed out in the Championship and League One taking effect a week after being handed down.

He would therefore be available to play against Catalans Dragons on Saturday if the Robins called upon him, and equally, he would be available for Featherstone Rovers in their game against the unbeaten Widnes Vikings.

A win for Featherstone would be huge and help them cut the emerging gap between the unbeaten top three and themselves who reside in fifth with two wins and two losses.

Other bans handed out included a one-game ban for Toulouse’s Robin Brochon for ‘Head Contact’, whilst three bans were handed out following the Women’s Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals.

Saints’ Chantelle Crowl was handed a one-match ban for ‘Dangerous Contact’, Huddersfield’s Beth Armstrong received a two-game ban for the same charge, whilst Leeds Rhinos’ Keira Bennett was hit with a one-match ban for ‘Head Contact’.
