Leigh continue recruitment drive with Mason signing

Nathan Mason has joined Leigh Centurions for the 2020 season and becomes the latest in a flurry of signings made by the club today.

The 26-year-old was on loan at the Leythers from Huddersfield in 2018 and will return after spending last season in Super League with London Broncos and on dual-reg with Sheffield Eagles.

“It’s good to be back and see some old faces,” Mason told leighrl.co.uk. “I’m looking forward to getting back at it because I really enjoyed my time here when I was on loan from Huddersfield.

“The Betfred Championship is going to be a good comp and Leigh will be looking to be up there. There are some great teams in the league and we will have to be on the money week-in, week-out. We can’t afford to have any off days because it’s that competitive.”

Leigh head coach John Duffy added: “Nathan is a player that has been at the club before and everyone speaks highly of him. I watched him quite a bit last season and I thought he played really well in the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final.

“He’s got to have a good off-season and make sure he does the right things but I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

Liam Hood, Tom Spencer and Sam Brooks have also re-signed at the Leigh Sports Village for the 2020 season.

They join new signings Danny Addy and Ben Hellewell, along with another re-signing Iain Thornley, on John Duffy’s roster for the new campaign.
