Hull KR fans seemingly furious with decision but Robins only have themselves to blame

Super League fans

Before Hull KR took on Warrington Wolves in Round Four of the Betfred Super League season, the pressure was put on the club after they finished fourth last year.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Jon Wilkin said of his former club: “There is pressure, there’s pressure on Hull KR to perform as well as they did in 2023.

“Yeah I think there’s external pressure right and there’s pressure from the fans but I think the most important pressure that exists at Hulk KR now is what’s within the dressing room and the pressure that will appear is put on this team to be almost pitch perfect every week. Now they weren’t at their best last week but that pressure in the changing room, that’s the most powerful pressure in sport.”

This came as Paul Cooke said that Marc Sneyd had taught the Robins a lesson in the game last week against Salford Red Devils.

Cooke said: “I thought that Marc Sneyd taught them a lesson last week. I thought that Sneyd showed both the Hull KR halves a lesson in how to manage a game but also how to adapt within that mate to the minute.”

Hull KR only have themselves to blame

As it happened, Hull KR would lose a second consecutive game. The Robins went 10-0 down early on before battling back to lead 12-10 but the Robins should have led 18-10 with James Batchelor dropping the ball over the line.

They then soon found themselves 18-12 down at the break but Hull KR did storm to a 20-18 lead at the start of the second half only to concede late on to a try Matt Dufty try that made it 22-20.

However, they would have one last throw of the dice when Dufty dropped a kick however confusion would ensue. Dufty was sure he had been fouled and Aaron Moore seemed to change from Hull KR possession to Warrington possession and back to KR.

KR would then squander the attacking chance but even so their fans would boo and seemingly blame the referee with typical unsavoury chants you will hear at any football or rugby ground.

But ultimately, the Robins only had themselves to blame after some missed opportunities.
