Wigan Warriors flyer & Super League target set to feature in must win World Cup game against Ireland for Lebanon

As is always the case, all eyes will be on the big three teams this weekend in the World Cup.

England take on France in Bolton, New Zealand meet Jamaica in Hull and tonight Australia battle Scotland in Coventry.

After that there of course will be focus on Tonga as they again cement themselves as contenders meeting Wales whilst dark horses Papua New Guinea meet Cook Islands in a shoot out for a quarter-final spot.

However, the game of the round might just be Ireland vs Lebanon in Leigh on Sunday.

Ireland come into the game on the back of victory against Jamaica knowing that a win will virtually seal a quarter-final spot.

Lebanon may feel the same despite defeat to New Zealand last week. This is because they will be massively fancied against Jamaica in their final group game whilst Ireland would be left to face world number one side New Zealand.

So, both teams will look to name their best team. Ireland earlier named their 19-man squad complete with stars such as Richie Myler and James Bentley of Leeds, Wigan bound Toby King, twins Louis and Innes Senior and skipper and Toby’s brother George of Hull KR.

Meanwhile, new Leigh signing Rob Mulhern will get a chance to sample Leigh Sports Village for the first time since being unveiled as a Leopard.

They will be up against a top notch Lebanon team led by NRL Grand Finalist Mitchell Moses but he won’t have halfback partner Adam Doueihi alongside him after he was banned for one game due to “foul and abusive language” towards the match official during defeat to New Zealand.

Wigan winger Abbas Miski will feature alongside Super League target Josh Mansour.
