Yesterday against Super League Champions and cup holders St Helens, Whitehaven gave a really good account of themselves.
They made things difficult for Kristian Woolf’s side keeping St Helens to just 18 points in the first 40 and at times frustrating the Champions.
Playing some enterprising stuff, they also picked up a deserved try. All of this was made more impressive by the fact they were forced to play most of the game with just 15 players due to two injury concerns one of which was Liam Cooper which was particularly worrying.
Stretchered off in a neck brace, there were plenty of worries around the rugby league world by Whitehaven have now given an encouraging update on Cooper.
“We’ve had plenty of messages since yesterday’s game about Liam Cooper,” Whitehaven took to Twitter to say, “‘Ronnie’ was stretchered off early on in a neck brace – we are glad to report Liam was up and about in the changing room shortly after being taken off and watched the second half of the game from the dugouts.
“Our medical staff will evaluate Liam further this week to determine any further treatment needed.”
