Warrington Wolves make big decision on George Williams

Warrington Wolves star George Williams

Warrington Wolves Head Coach Sam Burgess has named his squad for the game against London Broncos in Round Five.

In doing so, he has made a big call on George Williams who has again found himself ruled out through injury after saying on Sky Sports that he had “a dodgy ankle” at the game between the Wolves and Hull KR.

He was excellent in that game but will now miss this week’s contest and perhaps the game against London next week in the Challenge Cup.

The Wire take on the newly promoted side at the Cherry Red Records Stadium this Sunday 17 March, 3pm.

Half-backs George Williams (ankle) and Josh Drinkwater (thigh) are ruled out with Stefan Ratchford set to deputise in the halves alongside Leon Hayes.

Lachlan Fitzgibbon has returned to Australia following a family bereavement.

Joe Bullock is included having been recalled from his loan spell with Hull FC. Matty Nicholson is also named for the first time this season following injury.

Warrington Wolves 21-man squad: Matty Ashton, Joe Bullock, Jordy Crowther, Ben Currie, Matt Dufty, James Harrison, Leon Hayes, Adam Holroyd, Toby King, Arron Lindop, Zane Musgrove, Matty Nicholson, Joe Philbin, Sam Powell, Stefan Ratchford, Josh Thewlis, Paul Vaughan, Danny Walker, Tom Whitehead, Max Wood, Connor Wrench.

London Broncos meanwhile have named as strong a squad as they can at the time being. They are of course still missing some players through injury.

This includes the brilliant Bill Leyland. His brother Oli is still in the squad. There are some top players in their squad as they look for a big win to kick start their season.

They have the likes of Alex Walker, Lee Kershaw, Hakim Miloudi and Rhys Kennedy all in their squad all of whom have the capability of causing problems for the Warrington Wolves.
