Leigh Leopards reportedly bring back former Warrington Wolves star

According to reports, Leigh Leopards have brought back former Love Island Contestant and Warrington Wolves outside back Keanan Brand to the club.

Brand had joined Bradford Bulls on loan but is reportedly returning to the Leigh Leopards after injuries have mounted at the club such as the loss of Tom Briscoe, Lachlan Lam, Edwin Ipape and John Asiata all of whom featured in the club’s historic Challenge Cup Final win over Hull KR last year.

According to The Game Caller, the Leigh Leopards have drafted Brand back into their squad for the upcoming Super League games.

The club will also be without Leeds Rhinos loanee Corey Johnson after he suffered a Head Injury against Leigh Leopards Reserves whilst playing for the Rhinos at the weekend.

Brand, 25, made his professional debut for Widnes Vikings in 2019 before going on to be nominated for the Betfred Championship Young Player of the Year.

A short stint at Warrington Wolves preceded a temporary move to the Leigh Sports Village, with that move becoming permanent for the 2022 season. Brand scored 13 tries in 23 appearances for Adrian Lam’s side.

When Bradford Bulls snapped up Brand from the Leigh Leopards, Head Coach Eamon O’Carroll said to the club’s official website:

“It’s really pleasing to be able to bring in someone of Keanan’s ability. He will add some much-needed depth to our squad.

“Keanan is a competitor, who has a great skill set and ability to break the line but more importantly when I spoke with him, he expressed his excitement about joining us on loan.

“I’d like to thank Adrian Lam, Derek Beaumont and Chris Chester for allowing Keanan to join the Bulls. I look forward to working with Keanan for a 2nd time round and along with the rest of the staff, helping him develop further.”

Unfortunately for the Bulls, it is now Lam, Beaumont and Chester who will be thanking the Bulls for allowing him to return to the club.

Leigh have also used the loan market drafting in Brad Dwyer from the Warrington Wolves.
