Warrington Wolves boss Daryl Powell addresses fans’ concerns after being booed following Wakefield Trinity defeat

Daryl Powell witnessed his Warrington Wolves side go down to Wakefield Trinity twice in a week this afternoon.

The Wolves have now lost four games in a row and were outenthused and outplayed by Trinity, who were led by halfback Mason Lino, for over an hour.

And, Powell couldn’t hide his frustration at the final whistle.

“I’m really disappointed, we started well we were 12-0 up and then I just thought we defended so poorly,” Powell said on Premier Sports.

“Wakefield have got some talented boys in there but we should be able to hold our line better than that – our kicking game was so poor in the second-half and didn’t apply any pressure.”

When asked by Premier Sports host Ross Fiddes about fans’ concerns, Powell was defiant.

“It’s tough to take – we are working hard as a coaching group, the playing group are going after it but we’re not performing consistently well.

“We’re just getting rattled so easily in games and I thought Wakefield just sensed that.”

Powell also revealed that he believes the job has been more difficult than he first thought when he took it.

“I knew there would be some work to do when I came in but it’s a little tougher than I thought.

“We’ve got to hold our nerve and come out the other side.”
