Warrington rest players for Hull KR trip

Warrington head coach Steve Price has left star hooker Daryl Clark and in-form prop Joe Philbin out of their squad for Saturday’s trip to Hull KR.

Neither Clark or Philbin are thought to be injured but they will sit out this weekend’s clash, with the Wolves currently second in Super League and clear of Catalans in third.

Wire boss Price is following a dangerous trend set by St Helens coach Justin Holbrook, who saw his team suffer a shock defeat to London Broncos on Sunday after choosing to rest players.

The match sees new Rovers head coach Tony Smith come up against his former team, having spent eight years in charge of Warrington between 2009 and 2017.

His KR side will fancy their chances of pulling off an upset too, having gone down by only six points to the Wolves in the Challenge Cup two weeks ago.

Ryan Atkins and Lama Tasi have been brought into the visitors squad, but Clark’s absence will be music to the ears of a desperate Robins side.

Hull KR squad: Adam Quinlan, Craig Hall, Ben Crooks, Jimmy Keinhorst, Ryan Shaw, Robbie Mulhern, Mose Masoe, Joel Tomkins, Weller Hauraki, Mitch Garbutt, Tommy Lee, Chris Atkin, George Lawler, Josh Drinkwater, Will Dagger, Owen Harrison, Adam Rooks, Harry Bardle, Shaun Lunt

Warrington squad: Sitaleki Akauola, Ryan Atkins, Blake Austin, Josh Charnley, Jason Clark, Mike Cooper, Ben Currie, Matt Davis, Bryson Goodwin, Chris Hill, Jack Hughes, Jack Johnson, Toby King, Harvey Livett, Jake Mamo, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Declan Patton, Lama Tasi, Danny Walker
