Warrington given huge boost as two of Super League’s best absent

Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara has named his 21-Man squad for the Super League round 8 game against Warrington Wolves on Saturday, April 8th, kick-off at 5pm UK time at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium.

Siua Taukeiaho, Mickael Goudemand and Ugo Tison are back in the squad and replace Sam Tomkins, Mitchell Pearce and Bastien Scimone.

This is a huge boost for Warrington with Pearce and Tomkins out.

At least for the Dragons they welcome back star signing Taukeiaho.

Warrington’s star signing former World Cup winner Josh McGuire is set for his debut after missing the opening seven rounds through suspension for using inappropriate language.

Matty Russell is also named despite limping off against Hull FC. He will have to battle with Josh Thewlis for a place on the wing.

There is still no Daryl Clark.

The two only have one defeat between them making it a huge top of the table clash between first and second.

With the game expected to attract a big crowd the Dragons have elected to put up a temporary stand releasing the following statement:

“The club, which is preparing for a large attendance for this Easter Saturday, has decided to rent a temporary stand that will be installed in place of the old south stand.

“This temporary stand will be operational for a month and used for receptions in Warrington and St Helens on Friday 5 May.”
