Tonga in prime position to emerge as one of the best

Putting the vast quality of their playing group aside, last night’s win over Great Britain puts Tonga in a prime position to stake their claim as a top two nation in International Rugby League.

After Friday night’s win against New Zealand and their World Cup 9’s and 2017 RLWC victory Australia are safe at number one.

However, if Tonga can defeat the world’s number one nation on November the 2nd at Eden Park, then they have to be considered the second best nation in International Rugby League.

Unless New Zealand or Great Britain absolutely obliterates the other in both their tests, if Tonga beats Australia, they surely have to be considered the second best International Rugby League side.
