Sydney Roosters sign teenage prodigy from Rabbitohs

Sydney Roosters have confirmed the signing of highly-rated teenager Joseph Suaalii on a two-year deal from South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The 17-year-old fullback has been tipped as the next big star and had received attention from league, union and other codes before deciding to join the Roosters.

NRL rules dictate that Suaalii would be unable to make his senior debut until his 18th birthday in August, however the club are reportedly seeking an exemption to play him before then, according to NRL.com.

On the signing, Roosters recruitment manager Daniel Anderson said: “Joseph is a highly-talented young player, and we’re thrilled to have secured his services.

“This is a terrific opportunity for Joseph to continue his development alongside the established players we have at the Club like James Tedesco, Daniel Tupou and Joseph Manu, and we’re looking forward to watching his progress over the next few years.”
