Super League Team of the Week

Yet another round of fixtures have been done and dusted with three Super League sides still unbeaten.

St Helens, Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves have a 100% record whilst Castleford Tigers, Wakefield Trinity, Leeds Rhinos and Toulouse Olympique have yet to register a win.

Catalans Dragons overcame Leeds whilst Wigan got one over on Huddersfield on Thursday night.

Saints were able to register three wins in a row over Wakefield as Hull KR finally got their first win over Castleford.

Hull FC thrashed Salford Red Devils on Saturday afternoon whilst Warrington consigned Toulouse for a third straight defeat on Saturday night.

But, what was the team of the week?

1. Jake Connor – Hull FC

What a performance from the Hull FC man! Six assists and one try later, Jake Connor produced a wonderful performance to help Hull get their second win in three games. The Black and Whites have been criticised by the way they have started the season, but silenced their critics with an emphatic 48-16 win over Salford.

2. Darnell McIntosh – Hull FC

The Hull winger showed just why he is so highly thought of with an impressive display against Salford on Saturday afternoon. McIntosh scored a try and kicked four goals to pull up a 12-point haul. He certainly looks in the mood to score a number of tries in 2022.

3. Jake Bibby – Wigan Warriors

Jake Bibby has really improved in the past few seasons and he underlined his importance to this Wigan outfit in a nailbiting win over Huddersfield on Friday. Another try to add to his tally, but it’s his overall work ethic that will impress head coach Matty Peet the most.

4. Shaun Kenny-Dowall – Hull KR

What a tremendous captain’s knock by Shaun Kenny-Dowall! Hull KR demolished Castleford on Friday night and Kenny-Dowall was at the heart of that, delivering some boneshaking hits as well as some terrific runs.

5. Josh Charnley – Warrington Wolves

It couldn’t really be anyone else to occupy this spot as Josh Charnley registered his 200th and 201st Super League try in Warrington’s 32-18 victory over Toulouse Olympique. The winger also enjoyed some great runs out of defence as the French side proved no match for the Wolves.

6. Mikey Lewis – Hull KR

What another superb performance from the young man in Hull KR’s win over Castleford on Friday night. The little livewire is capable of great things with a massive future ahead of him. Remember the name Mikey Lewis.

7. George Williams – Warrington Wolves

In the absence of Gareth Widdop, George Williams stepped up to the plate with a great performance against Toulouse, scoring a try and setting up numerous others. Williams really looks to be settled under head coach Daryl Powell.

8. Mike McMeeken – Catalans Dragons

Played out of position at prop due to the loss of a number of front-row forwards, Mike McMeeken certainly made his presence felt with a formidable performance at the heart of the Catalans pack. McMeeken has excelled for the Dragons since joining and he truly underlined his importance to the Catalans outfit on Thursday night.

9. James Roby – St Helens

He just is a fine wine; there is no greater professional than James Roby in the world of rugby league and he helped St Helens over the line against a stubborn Wakefield Trinity side, scoring a try and sniping at dummy-half for most of the 80 minutes.

10. Chris Satae – Hull FC

If there is a more devastating forward in Super League then someone needs to tell Chris Satae. Another brilliant performance saw the hulking prop register yet another try, but it was his overall demeanour and attitude that got Hull on the front foot consistently throughout.

11. Jordan Lane – Hull FC

Jordan Lane is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting forwards in this Hull FC team and he underlined yet another great day with two tries as Hull put Salford to the sword. His physicality and durability is amongst the best in Super League and he is one of Brett Hodgson’s go-to men.

12. Liam Farrell – Wigan Warriors

A two-try haul and a stellar performance was more than enough to guarantee Liam Farrell’s place in the Team of the Week. He really is Mr. Reliable and looks to be taking his game to an even greater level in 2022.

13. Morgan Knowles – St Helens

Another week, another stellar Morgan Knowles performance. Saints just about made it over the line against Wakefield, with Knowles leading from the front once more.

Substitutes

14. Daryl Clark – Warrington Wolves

After being demoted to the bench, Daryl Clark underlined his class for Warrington with an inspired performance as the Wolves eased to a win in Toulouse.

15. Joe Bullock – Warrington Wolves

Yet another big night for new signing Joe Bullock in a Warrington shirt after coming off the bench to launch himself into the fray. He really does look to be enjoying life for his new club.

16. Joe Chan – Catalans Dragons

What a night for the young man! Joe Chan scored a try and enjoyed some big runs against Leeds on Thursday night. One to look out for in the future.

17. Patrick Mago – Wigan Warriors

What a signing Patrick Mago is turning out to be for Wigan Warriors! The big man was rampant as a substitute with the Huddersfield forwards unable to cope.
