Super League star set for three months out

One of Super League’s top performers to start the season has suffered a huge blow.

As Huddersfield Giants defeated Salford Red Devils last Sunday, both Ash Golding and Will Pryce were forced off the field with injuries.

Golding has been superb to start the season playing wing, hooker and even in the pack but he will be out for three months according to Ian Watson.

That is in stark contrast to Will Pryce who could shockingly play against Leeds Rhinos on Sunday.

“Ash is dead set out. He is probably looking at three months,” Watson said.

“It is a nasty one for him which is unfortunate the way he was playing.

“Prycey will see tomorrow. He was supposed to get a scan but he has bounced pretty well.

“Like I said in the after match, he didn’t look too bad.

“The physio is going to check with him tomorrow. He hasn’t trained with us this week but if he can and he’s available he’ll play.

“We’ll know that tomorrow.”

He also said he and the Giants feared the worst when the injury first occurred:

“Sometimes its the shock of it, we were worried it was his Achilles the way he pulled up. It was puffy, we have iced it and he is weight bearing again today.

“We will see where he is tomorrow. I thought it was unlikely at first.”

In a boost for the Giants, Harvey Livett is back in the mix:

“Harvey Livett is back. He is looking okay so could potentially be back in.”

On the other side of things, Leeds could be boosted by the surprise return of Ash Handley.

Rohan Smith said: “Ash is back in training but not sure if he’ll play yet.”

When asked if he has a chance of playing, Smith said:

“Maybe. He hasn’t done a full session yet.”
