Super League side set to turn to surprise avenue for new signings

Wakefield Trinity are still without a win at the bottom of Super League losing nine matches in a row.

They have also failed to score in five out of nine games whilst in two of the other four they have failed to score more than one try.

Making matters worse they are doing it tough in terms of injuries.

However, Trinity are set to return to the transfer market once more turning to the surprising avenue of the French Elite One Championship which is coming to a close with players like Dean Whare and Morgan Escare plying their trade there.

Speaking after the game Mark Applegarth confirmed this was something they are looking at:

“We’re looking. Obviously there’s the French league finishing now which offers up an opportunity for players over there if you can get them in,” he said on BBC Radio Leeds.

“We’re always looking for players that we feel are going to add quality to where we’re at. The issue mid-season is that there’s no real free agents that can come in, that are match fit. Plus they’ve got to be affordable for the budget we’re working within.

“We need to bolster certain ranks for sure.”

The West Yorkshire club have brought in the likes of Will Dagger from Hull KR and a trio of loan signings from Huddersfield Giants.
