Super League coach reveals club has completed “some of our recruitment”

It’s May and thus recruitment for next year has begun at plenty of Super League clubs.

One side who might be busy looking ahead to 2024 and beyond is the Leeds Rhinos.

They have first teamers like David Fusitu’a, Blake Austin, Aidan Sezer and James Bentley out of contract as well as youngsters Sam Walters and Liam Tindall.

Today Rohan Smith confirmed that he wants Walters and Tindall to stay with the Rhinos in 2024 and beyond.

This came as he said retention is what they are working through presently:

“Firstly we are working through some retention. I am a big believer that you don’t always have to be looking outside.

“We have a lot of young players who are developing this year and we have some just behind them.”

Meanwhile, Smith stated that the club had already done some of its recruitment:

“Some of our recruitment has already done and it will emerge as the season progresses.

“We will be looking for players who can add a point of difference to what we have got and then some of the players who are off contract have their own options to explore as well so it is not all in our hands.”
