St Helens head coach Kristian Woolf has named a 28 man squad for Alex Walmsley’s testimonial clash with Leigh Centurions.
Head coach Woolf confirmed yesterday that he will start with a strong team before a number of youngsters who haven’t been allocated a first team squad number this season, will get a chance to make their club debut.
The Saints boss also confirmed that Regan Grace needed surgery on a bicep injury picked up in training which will see him miss the first month of the new season so he will miss out on Friday. Morgan Knowles and Curtis Sironen will also sit out Friday’s game as they continue to build up their fitness levels.
Sione Mata’utia will also miss the game after he picked up a one game ban in the 2021 Grand Final which is carried over to 2022. He will return for the opening game of the new campaign against Catalans.
Matty Foster is still recovering from his ACL injury picked up on loan at Leigh in 2021. New signing Danny Hill is also recovering from an injury as is Jumah Sambou and Taylor Pemberton.
New signings Will Hopoate is expected to feature as are Joey Lussick, James Bell and Konrad Hurrell. Academy graduate Shay Martyn is included on the bench as well as Reece Sumner, Rio Corkill, Ellis Archer and Daniel Moss who could all make their debut for the club.
