“Some of these players just aren’t good enough” – Chester launches incredible tirade against own forwards

It’s fair to say that Chris Chester was not a happy man after seeing his Wakefield side squander an 18-0 lead to then go down 22-18.

It’s not just the fact that his side lost, it was the manner in which Trinity did so that rankled Chester most of all.

“You should never lose a game when you go 18 points in front,” Chester said.

“There’s some things today I’ve seen on the rugby field I’ve not seen for a long time.

“We weren’t brave enough defensively and there were some big turning points.”

In particular, the Wakefield boss was extremely unhappy with the performance of his forwards in the middle and launched a scathing attack.

“We are saying the same things week-in, week-out.

“Some of these players just aren’t good enough, they are really struggling with the tempo of the game.”

That defeat was Trinity’s 13th in 17 games, with just four victories to their name all season, the pressure is on Wakefield to improve ahead of the visit of Warrington to the Mobile Rocket Stadium next Sunday.
