Samoan World Cup star signs three-year deal with Salford Red Devils

Tim Lafai has signed a new three-year deal with the Salford Red Devils.

It will keep the Samoan international at the AJ Bell Stadium until the end of the 2025 season.

Lafai is off the back of a superb World Cup for Samoa in which he scored two tries in the semi-final victory over England.

Unfortunately, his nation were beaten in the final by Australia but that didn’t dampen what was a excellent competition for the Pacific Islanders and Lafai individually.

After he was left out of the initial squad, the 31-year-old was brought in due to injuries in and he excelled in Samoa’s run to the final and was named in the Team of the Tournament.

It marked a superb 2022 for Lafai who was exceptional for Salford, helping them get within 80 minutes of the Super League Grand Final.

The Savaii-born back played 23 games in the last campaign for Paul Rowley’s side and was named in the Super League Dream Team.

Prior to his move to the Red Devils prior to the 2022 season, Lafai played in the NRL for Canterbury Bulldogs and St George Illawarra Dragons – accumulating 193 appearances for the two clubs combined.
