Salford Red Devils taunt Super League rivals with social media message

Social media nowadays is a big hitter for Super League clubs – as well as Championship and League 1 sides.

And, every so often, clubs fire hilarious shots at their rivals which can then lead to a bit of banter – which everyone likes to see to lighten the mood.

This time it was the turn of the Salford Red Devils who, following the news that they would be playing the Huddersfield Giants again at the Magic Weekend, decided to have a dig at the two’s past results at the showpiece weekend event.

The Red Devils pipped the Giants when the two last met at the Etihad Stadium back in 2012 in a 38-34 victory and Salford’s social media team were quick to point out that fact when the Magic Weekend fixtures were announced this morning.

Salford’s tweet read:”@Betfred@SuperLeague have kindly given @Giantsrl an extra chance to try and beat Salford Red Devils in 2022!”

Salford will be under the stewardship of new head coach Paul Rowley as the former Leigh Centurions and Toronto Wolfpack boss earns his first Super League gig.

Huddersfield, meanwhile, enter into their second season under Ian Watson following a difficult 2021, although results did improve for the Giants towards the back end of the year.
