Super League coach has his say on whether Super League should scrap golden point

This week we have seen two thrilling Super League clashes go to golden point extra time.

Both were games where draws would have been fair results.

But what do the coaches themselves think?

Rohan Smith was asked if he would have taken a draw after the 80 minutes.

Here is what he said: “After the 80 of that performance and effort I wouldn’t have been unhappy that’s for sure to take a point would have been you know satisfying and and possibly you know deserved.

“I’m not sure, I don’t know we were looking through it from a different different lenses depending on which side of the fence you’re on I’m not sure who the best team was tonight.

“I think there’s too much going on to actually have an accurate assessment of that you guys will all say St Helens were the better team and the scoreboard says so.”

Leeds were involved in the last Super League draw in 2022 against Huddersfield Giants which went to golden point extra time but neither side could find a way to win.

That was nearly the case at Headingley until a Lewis Dodd drop goal a minute from time settled matters for the Saints as they gained revenge for their 25-24 defeat to Leeds in Round Three.
