Super League returned this week and with it came some great games and a huge shock as Hull FC edged Wigan on Thursday. Friday’s TV game saw Saints fall in France before Hull KR continued their form and whitewashed Huddersfield. Leeds fell at Headingley to the Red Devils whereas Warrington stumbled through against a resilient Wakefield. Leigh impressed against Castleford to push into the playoff spots. Across those fixtures there was a flurry of cards which could see  a very busy day for the Match Review Panel.

Injury updates after bruising set of games

Salford Red Devils had the bizarre injury news of Ken Sio falling down a pot hole but another of Rowley’s stars could have a key injury it’s been confirmed, with further details also added. Meanwhile their opponents, Leeds, suffered an injury problem of their own which could create a positional crisis for their upcoming games.

Unanswered points leave two Super League coaches unhappy

Both St Helens and Castleford took the lead in their respective fixtures last night but then saw 24 and 30 unanswered points respectively. A very unhappy Paul Wellens spoke with the media after trying to explain away the issues, whilst Andy Last opened up on how and why Leigh were able to “dominate” his Castleford side.

Powell warns Wire stars

Warrington Wolves beat Wakefield Trinity but it wasn’t as plain sailing as many expected. The pre-match discussion was about the dropping of Matt Dufty who Powell has labelled “way off”, whilst he then spoke post-match and warned the squad in general that they need to make a vast improvement.

Lam bans mention of “R word”

Leigh Leopards came up to Super League and per the general trend many expected them to fall straight back down to the Championship and be relegated. That’s a word though that Lam claims his side haven’t mentioned at all and they now find themselves in a play-off position, following their resounding victory over Castleford.

Magic Weekend is less than a month away now and with that the spectacle of the event starts to simmer. Two sides have got their fans excited early with the launch of new kits as Castleford have launched a retro look, whilst Leeds Rhinos have opted for a brilliant cause in supporting the Doddie Weir charity. 

Fans furious following sub-par performances

Two sets of fans have taken to social media to express huge concern and even frustration at their side’s Friday night performances. Whilst Warrington won they made hard work of a Wakefield side that have been to date the league whipping boys, that’s caused concern among fans. Meanwhile Leeds fell to a poor defeat against Salford causing fury among their fans given their inconsistent form.

Eddie and Stevo label sport’s snub “a disgrace”

Wembley recently celebrated a centenary anniversary and with that commemorated 100 icons who had played or performed at the iconic stadium. Within that rugby league was left off the list completely, despite the Challenge Cup Final taking place their almost every year since 1929. Veteran pundits Eddie and Stevo have since weighed in and raged about the decision in their own classic fashion.

Super League coach ‘corresponding’ with RFL over ruck speed

Rohan Smith has revealed that he has “correspondence” with the RFL over ruck speed in the game as he’s suggested that fans are frustrated by it. Earlier in the season the Rhinos boss had revealed he’d been warned by the RFL not to mention certain things, but having revealed this publicly that may have changed.

Raging Bull wreaks havoc

Bradford Bulls are the only bulls synonymous with Super League but now there’s a new candidate following an incident at Catalans that saw a bull break free and storm the pitch in the pre-game on Friday night. That incident has since gone viral triggering huge social media attention, and has been explained away by the Dragons and also their new signing. It has also led to some false claims among the international media.

Leeds defeat explained by Smith

Rohan Smith addressed the media following defeat to Salford giving an explanation why his side lost. Meanwhile despite the victory Paul Rowley has bemoaned decisions not going his side’s way on account of crowd noise.

Shock result was “game of the season”

Hull FC upset the odds for the second game in a row as they defeated Wigan on Thursday night at the MKM. The game saw a standout performance from Jake Clifford and one of those pundits watching has now claimed it was “the game of the season”.

Former SL man makes incredible return

Jansin Turgut is a former Super League player with both Hull FC and Salford and he’s set to potentially debut for Bradford Bulls this weekend. Whilst that might not be extraordinary for some former Super League players, it is for Jansin who has recovered from life threatening injuries to sign with the Bulls in an inspiring story.

Bulls sign former Super League man

Bradford Bulls have been utilising loan deals and their dual registration deal with Leeds Rhinos to full effect this season in their efforts to push for promotion. Now though Mark Dunning has looked to a more permanent solution in signing a former Super League player to bring plenty of experience to his youthful squad. The Bulls face Barrow on Sunday as round ten of the Championship kicks on with all the predictions, kick-off times and TV times are available here.
