Powell sheds light on Gareth O’Brien injury

When Castleford’s Gareth O’Brien limped from the field in the Tigers’ victory over Wakefield, fans were holding their breath about the extent of the injury.

However, head coach Daryl Powell has confirmed that it isn’t as bad as what everyone first feared.

“He’s (O’Brien) not too bad, it’s two or three weeks so it’s not the disaster that it looked like initially,” Powell said.

“I’m hopeful he is going to be ok in the next couple of weeks.”

Powell also spoke about how difficult it has been to field a team with so many ins and outs.

“Obviously we’ve had Jake Trueman who’s had an injection in his back so hopefully he’ll be ok.

“We’re just lacking direction at the moment, we’re pulling players from different positions and slotting them in, it’s been a constant for us.

“As a coach you just want a little bit of consistency, you can’t overstate how tough it is picking a team each week.”
