Powell rues RFL’s “crazy” decision

When Castleford – along with Hull KR and Bradford – were stripped of their academy license, the whole town was in uproar.

An area known for its incredible youth conveyor belt had been ground to a halt in a matter of seconds.

However, after deliberation, the RFL granted the Tigers – along with KR and Bradford – a ‘probationary’ license. It’s a decision that Castleford head coach Daryl Powell was thrilled to see.

“It was really important that the decision was reversed and the way it was done wasn’t the best on the back of what’s happened in the world at the moment

“It was a crazy decision to make as there’s some really good players here at the moment, Darren Higgins has done an awesome job with the players we’ve got in at the minute.

“Cain Robb is going to be an awesome player, obviously Bailey Hodgson has gone to Australia and then we’ve got Adam Rusling at halfback who has a look of Jake Trueman about him and then Sam Hall.

“There are so many players coming through our system and I’m made up they’ve (RFL) reversed it as a lot of quality players will be poking their noses through.”
