Phil Clarke warns that Super League side still have “their best player” to come into the fold

Last night Hull FC impressed many as they pushed Champions St Helens all the way.

In fact they could have won.

With only a few minutes remaining, a lovely play saw Adam Swift break down the left and chip back inside for Brad Dwyer but the former Leeds Rhinos hooker fumbled the ball with the line at his mercy.

Then Saints went up the other end of the field and scored an insurance try through Jon Bennison’s second to make it 20-12.

Despite this, Hull FC impressed especially compared with their recent showing against Salford Red Devils when they lost 60-14.

However, Sky Sports pundit Phil Clarke still pointed out the problem Hull FC have:

“The problem Hull have had is the difference between their best and their worst is massive. They have to narrow that gap.

“They need to find out why they were so bad last week.

“They have to really find within the club the answer to that.”

Another problem is that the Black and Whites still have perhaps their best player to come into the side in the shape of their star signing from Castleford Tigers Jake Trueman.

Clarke said:

“Potentially they have their best player to come back in Jake Trueman and there is also Carlos Tuimavave.”
