NRL giants tipped to sign Super League star

One type of player in particular that NRL clubs are interested in are halfbacks especially with the likes of Wests Tigers and Canterbury Bulldogs in the market for a halfback.

The Tigers even offered Catalans Dragons star Mitchell Pearce a $1.5 million contract which was turned down at first as NRL clubs pursue Super League stars.

However, the halfback has said he is open to a move back down under. He is in the final year of his contract but has an option for another year.

“I’m still open,” Pearce said on SEN.

“I’ll wait and see what happens. The Tigers thing came up. I declined on that, and I was really grateful. It was nice respect from the Tigers but I’m committed here for this season and I’m loyal to the club to try to win the comp this year.

“We’ll wait and see what happens next year. I’m obviously getting older and you appreciate every season you play at this age.

“I still feel like I’ve got some footy in me, but I’m fully committed to this season. I’ll see what happens after that.”

Now Paul Kent has tipped Pearce to join NRL giants Sydney Roosters in a sensational return to his former club.

“There’s always been talk about Mitchell Pearce returning for a swan song season at the Roosters from almost the moment he left the club,” Kent said on NRL 360.

“When he went to France everyone said ‘well that’s over now’. But he’s come out and said he would love to have a final season in the NRL.

“There is a great amount of admiration for Mitch Pearce at the Roosters and I think they’d have him back in a heartbeat, I think he goes back and plays 14 off the bench. I think they can find a spot for him in that place.”
