Man of Steel points as a few surprise selections made

The Man of Steel points for Round One of Super League are in.

Unsurprisingly, Paul Vaughan is now joint top after his stunning display against Leeds Rhinos.

Tom Johnstone joins him after his try scoring return against Wakefield Trinity.

Reigning Man of Steel Brodie Croft is also joint top as is Hull KR halfback Jordan Abdull. He surprisingly finishes above hat-trick hero with Shaun Kenny-Dowall who was the TV Man of the Match and new signing James Batchelor who was outstanding.

SKD and Batchelor got two and one point respectively.

Debutant Tex Hoy claimed three points on his first Hull FC appearance.

On the losing end of things, Mason Lino, Bureta Faraimo and Jake Mamo all picked up points despite losing.

Warrington Wolves vs Leeds Rhinos:

Paul Vaughan made an immediate impact for the Wolves during their opening night win against the Rhinos. His bustling display in the front row earned him three Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel points, whilst fellow middle James Harrison picked up two points. Testimonial man Ben Currie completed a full house for the Wolves, receiving one Man of Steel point.

Wakefield Trinity vs Catalans Dragons

Dragons winger Tom Johnstone came back to haunt his former club on Friday Night – he crossed for a hat-trick on debut and received three Man of Steel points. England international Micky McIlorum picked up two Man of Steel points whilst Trinity half back Mason Lino received one point for his integral contributions.

Leigh Leopards vs Salford Red Devils

Reigning Man of Steel Brodie Croft earned three points after a commanding performance for the Red Devils on Friday Night. Croft’s teammate Andy Ackers was the recipient of two Man of Steel points with Ryan Brierley completing a clean sweep for Salford, receiving one Man of Steel point.

Hull KR vs Wigan Warriors

The returning Jordan Abdull helped the Robins get off to the perfect start against the Warriors in Round 1 and picked up three Man of Steel points. Inspirational skipper Shaun Kenny-Dowall earned two points thanks in part to his try scoring hat-trick. Robins’ new boy James Batchelor picked up one point after an impressive debut.

Hull FC vs Castleford Tigers

Tex Hoy was impressive for Hull FC on his Super League debut, earning three Man of Steel points. Castleford wingers Jake Mamo and Bureta Faraimo received two points and one point respectively for their individual showings for the narrowly beaten Tigers.
