Leigh Leopards back up signings with history making deal after magnanimous gesture

Leigh Leopards have confirmed that PPS Design and Build Ltd have agreed a new sponsorship deal to be the Club’s exclusive training kit sponsor for the 2023 Betfred Super League season. 

PPS Design and Build’s directors Dale Halliwell and Paul O’Neill fulfilled a long-held ambition to see their company name as main sponsor on their hometown club’s shirt for the record-breaking 2022 season, the last as Leigh Centurions.

Having enjoyed such a great season, and reaped the commercial benefits from their company’s involvement, they fully intended taking up an option to continue for next season.

But, as Club owner Derek Beaumont revealed, they have magnanimously put the interests of the Club first and switched sponsorship properties to enable the club to take on a new main shirt sponsor next season on a sizeable two-year deal which will make history as the club’s biggest commercial deal ever in their first as the Leopard.

“Dale and Paul and their company have been fantastic sponsors of the club,” Beaumont said.

“They have the passion for the club as fans and have contributed many additional things over and beyond the shirt sponsorship.

“When I met Dale he said he fully intended taking up his option to continue the existing sponsorship for the 2023 Betfred Super League season.

“But last night, after the successful rebrand event at Leigh Sports Village, the club was approached by a company with the offer of a two-year main shirt sponsorship for a significant sum, over six figures in each year, which will be the highest sponsorship deal ever in club history.

“Such is Dale’s passion for the club he immediately agreed not to take up his option and instead switch his sponsorship to the training kit.

“That Dale immediately agreed to do that, in the interests of the club, is testament to his support and passion for the Club and our ambitions for the future.

“PPS’s sponsorship this next year is a highly significant sum and will be hugely beneficial to assisting the growth of the club. The partnership with the under-15s and Under-16s sides, and the Super League Women’s side has added to our cost base and this sponsorship will greatly assist in that.

“PPS will have exclusive training kit sponsorship of all the Leigh Leopards teams- and as Dale and Paul are so committed to the community of Leigh as a whole, their new sponsorship is a perfect fit.”
