Last pays tribute to players

Hull FC interim Head Coach Andy Last paid tribute to both sets of players after his side’s Challenge Cup victory over Castleford Tigers.

For both Hull and Castleford, it was their second game in four days and it was starting to take its toll towards the end of the game.

He said: “They are putting their heart and soul into every collision and every contact.

“With ten minutes gone, I heard from the physio that Manu M’au was struggling, Ratu Naulago was struggling and Gareth Ellis was struggling.

“We ran out of subs. Jamie Shaul failed a HIA, Ratu came off with a calf injury as well and Albert Kelly looks like he’s done his hamstring.

“The boys are doing it really, really tough. I want to pay credit to Castleford as well.

“They had a real psychological blow, losing at the death like that. To put in the performance they did today shows something at the club brings out something deep inside you.

“I’m just glad we got on the right side of the result.”
