Kevin Brown says he believes there was a “fallout” that prompted Lee Radford exit

Super League

The big story of the week of course has been Lee Radford’s shock departure from the Castleford Tigers.

The Tigers have lost all three of their games to start the season including a 36-0 defeat to Wigan Warriors last week in what was Radford’s worst defeat as Tigers boss.

It also made it five defeats in a row since the end of last season and only three wins in their last 10 games over the course of the end of 2022 and the start of 2023.

Since the news emerged, there has been talk that Radford had a move to the NRL lined up for 2024 anyway and now Kevin Brown has said on the Last Tackle Podcast that he believes there has been a “fallout” to accelerate the decision.

He said: “It’s early so I think there must be something going on behind the scenes as well. There must have been a fallout that’s increased and accelerated the decision.”

Erol Crabtree echoed these thoughts saying he doesn’t think the fans were happy anyway:

“If you look on social media I don’t think the fans were particularly happy with Lee Radford anyway but it doesn’t seem like the excuse to get rid of him.

“It seems there’s something not quite right at the club, behind the scenes that we’re not aware of. They’re been two tough games that they’ve not been expected to win.”
