It was the moment that everyone is talking about, but now Josh Griffin has responded to abusive trolls by deleting his Twitter.
The Hull centre was the focal point of Saturday’s clash against St Helens, having dropped the ball as he sunk to the ground in excruciating pain. It’s been confirmed that Griffin has suffered a ruptured Achilles, but play continued and Saints’ Theo Fages picked up the loose ball to race over under the posts.
Both Kristian Woolf and Brett Hodgson were in agreement that play should have continued as it did so, but Griffin has since been targeted by trolls about the mistake.
That has, in turn, led to the England hopeful to get rid of his Twitter. In the wake of the respect campaign brought in by the RFL, this is yet another example that the sport still has a long way to go.
Apparently Josh Griffin has deleted his Twitter account due to abuse & is deeply upset by comments made by certain studio pundits. Lad gets a very serious injury, looses out on potential CCF & WC2021 selection & gets abuse. We talk about Mental Health in our game all the time!
