Jamie Jones-Buchanan reveals who has the best spine in Super League

Jamie Jones-Buchanan has revealed the spine he thinks is the best in Super League.

This is often the bedrock titles are built on and in Buchanan’s eyes it is not Champions St Helens who have the best spine.

Nor is it league leaders Warrington Wolves, Challenge Cup holders Wigan Warriors or even the impressive Catalans Dragons but in fact the Salford Red Devils.

He said on Sky Sports of their spine: “It’s the best in the league for me and built in the image of Paul Rowley.

“It has been building throughout last year and peaked at the end of 2022 so now it is all about keeping those guys fit and on the field.

“As we have seen in the past we have seen that they aren’t as potent like without Andy Ackers last week.”

Rowley will need to keep them fit because even though they have a quota spot the club don’t have the money to add to the squad which is perhaps why they only named a 20-man squad for the game.

However, Phil Clarke believes other sides, including opponents this weekend Leigh Leopards, could:

“They [Leigh] have more potential than any other side in the league, they just need more time on the field together.

“Several Super League sides I think will make signings from this country or overseas. Who gets the best one we don’t know and we will have to wait and see.

“They have the potential if he wants to continue to spend and they have the salary cap space I don’t see why not.”
