“It’s a pretty special” – Rohan Smith emotional as Leeds Rhinos make the Grand Final

Leeds Rhinos boss Rohan Smith emotional as he reveals phone call at the final whistle of big win over Wigan Warriors

It’s fair to say that Leeds Rhinos head coach Rohan Smith was happy with his side’s win against the Wigan Warriors tonight.

Wigan fell to a 20-8 defeat to the West Yorkshire side and it was fully deserved for the Rhinos whose run under new head coach Rohan Smith has been phenomenal to say the least.

And, following the superb win, Smith was emotional when he took to the Sky Sports microphone after the game, but hailed his own players, shifting the praise onto his players.

“It’s a pretty special moment to be here to be honest, I feel very privileged,” Smith said on Sky Sports after the game.

“I think every team and every club goes through adversity each year but I’m truly respectful of the players.

“They’ve had three difference coaches for the year and thats tough. They’ve stood to the task.
.
“I just see myself a sport of the machine and I know I have to make decisions and lead the way but everyone else is important equally.”

Smith was shown on the phone on the gantry when the final whistle went and was asked who he was interacting with.

And, the former Norths Devils boss revealed that he was speaking to his family.

“I was calling my wife I’ve got three kids at home it was a bit of mission with the baby and I was trying to share that moment with the family.”
